Desc: EstereoEnsaios São Paulo: Directed by Jane de Almeida. Stereo Essays São Paulo is a film-essay that revives the spirit of the City Symphony films of the silent era in digital stereographic context of the 21th century. Composed as a musical symphony, Stereo Essays dialogues with São Paulo Sinfonia da Metrópole, city symphony film made in 1929. The city of São Paulo is revisited from the macro and micro points of view in an experimental poetic essay in 3D interspersed with black and white scenes from the old film. Going through São Paulo's gigantic size, with its variety of constructions due to social differences and lack of planning, the film describes its highest point, the Terraço Italia building and returns to the micro space of pedestrians, street vendors, besides the crowd of cars and motorcycles of the city. The film traces the modernist architecture of Niemeyer with its curves and movements, showing the coexistence of people in the futuristic and Utopian environment of the recent past. With an autonomous sound design, Stereo Essays São Paulo intends to be a poetic document of a city of our age.
